Today is Mother's day in Mexico and this Sunday May 11th,2008 will be celebrated in United States.
Describing the love for a mom is a hard task, because moms deserve all the admiration and love we can give them due to all the moments, good/bad situations, sacrifices, sleepless nights and the many circumstances they have faced for each son/daughter, they have worked hard to give their sons all the best, teaching them that hard work and honesty is what matters in life.
Since Ancient times, people from the ancient cultures have celebrated Mothers and Motherhood, personifiying them as Godesses: The Ancient Greeks celebrated a holiday in honor of Rhea who was The Mother of the Gods.
In the British Isles and the Celtic Europe, the Goddess Brigid, and later her successor St. Brigid, were honored with a spring Mother's Day, connected with the first milk of the ewes.
The Ancient Romans celebrated a holiday in honor of Cybele, a Mother Goddess, it was about March 22-25 - the celebrations were notorious enough that followers of Cybele were banished from Rome.
I admire and love my mom very much and despite some bad times we once had, or the normal disagreements between a mother and a daughter, I respect her very much, she has given me and my brothers a great example of all what we need for being a productive human being, I am also very glad that my mom is happy enjoying her first Granddaughter, she is so happy seen Hiriana and well I must say all of us love her.
Today I won't work because I'll be celebrating Mother's day with my mom...Now I'm a little away from my Sister in Law Diane (Hiriana's mom)...but I want to wish her and also to all Mom's all the best!
